About This Webinar

When the Central Coast advances ambitious goals and solutions like 100% renewable energy or plastic bag bans, we become a lighthouse community, illuminating a path that gives other regions and the state confidence to set more aggressive policies. For more than 50 years, CEC has actively engaged with local and regional governments to adopt ambitious climate policies that better benefit our communities. Our current focus is on advocating for zero carbon and negative carbon goals for buildings, transportation, energy, agriculture, and waste management.

In this webinar, our speakers delve deeper into topics like:

  • Why recent climate policy wins create the strongest wind at our backs, ever.

  • What the feds, California, and our local governments are doing to make it easier and more affordable to switch to clean energy as a homeowner, renter, and driver.

  • How the new federal Inflation Reduction Act can cut the cost of new and used electric vehicles, heat pumps, solar, energy storage, insulation, electric panel upgrades, and other energy efficiency measures.

We also unveil CEC’s 2022/23 Climate Policy Platform––a set of clear actions we must take to ambitiously deploy local solutions. Our policy team is advocating for local governments to:

  • Reverse Climate Pollution

  • Implement Climate-smart Agriculture

  • Pursue Climate Justice Solutions

We will let you know when climate policy opportunities arise so that you can write to your elected officials or attend a city council meeting or county hearing in your region.
