CEC’s Climate Stewards Certification Program

CEC’s Climate Stewards certification program empowers individuals to advance equitable climate solutions in their communities. By building a groundswell of grassroots action, we can move the needle on climate change.

About the Course

Taking bold measures to stop the climate crisis requires all of us—non-profit leaders, professionals, recent college graduates, retirees, and community members—to work together. CEC’s Climate Stewards program is designed to provide participants with the tools needed to take individual and collective action that makes an impact. Learn more. 

Take this course to:

  • Gain access to climate action resources and opportunities to join the movement 

  • Understand the psychology and science behind climate change 

  • Forge greater community connections

  • Effectively communicate about the climate crisis

  • Be part of a supportive community of climate steward alumni who continue to share knowledge and expand climate action together long after the course is complete

Who will benefit:

  • Community members: play an active role in creating or implementing climate solutions in your home, workplace, or region

  • Non-profit leaders and staff: increase your organization's climate messaging and reduce its climate impact

  • Small, medium, or large business owners and staff: ensure climate-friendly policies and practices in your organization

  • Recent college graduates: build your capacity for climate-related career opportunities

  • Retirees: contribute your energy, experience, and wisdom to tackling climate change 

CEC is proud to be the first and only nonprofit on the California Central Coast to deliver the Climate Stewards certification program. 

COURSE DETAILS

NEXT COHORT Winter 2025, January 28 - March 18

FORMAT     Online classes via Zoom + in-person field trips

FREQUENCY     Classes on Tuesdays: 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. PST

3-4 field trips on weekends: two hours + travel time

COST     $350; A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available for those who express financial need. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.
